Developments of Photovoltaic (PV) Technoligies are main research themes. Especially, we concentrate thin film Si solar cell in doder to get higher energy conversion efficiency. The detailed research contents are summarized below. (1) The development of New semiconducting materials, such as Si clathrates and Ge Clathrates. The Si/Ge clathrate alloys are band gap tuning materilas for improve the energy conversion efficiency of thin film Si solar cells. (2) The developemnt of Transparent Conducting Oxide Electrodes with high faze of light scattering. The surface morphlogy technologies are applied to controll the ligth scattering for achieving higher performance and low cost PV cells. (3) The development of Potential Induced Degradation (PID) of Crystalline Si solar cells. Formations of SiO thin layer prevent the PID and the degration fo cell performances. (4) The development of new evaluation method for defect states of thin film solar cells. The proposed method, Photothermal Radiation Spectroscopy by strong lazer excitation gives possibility of evaluation for module size large samples. Evaluations of band gap energy with new materials for thin film dolar cells. (5) The development of phtovoltaic microscope for evaluationg nanocrystalline and crystal grain boundaries. (6) Applications of PV systems to agricultural filed. Above researchs are parts of Research Center of Innovative Photovoltaic System (CIPS).
