Photoelectric device has raised a great attention as one of renewable energy. In order to achieve their wider use, enhancements of the conversion efficiency and the lifetime of photoelectric devices are crucial. We focused on the following research topics to realize the problems.

Development of clathrate materials based on group IV elements as novel, less toxic and low-cost photoabsorption materials for solar cells
Development of light trapping techniques of solar cells using micro/nano particles
A study on the mechanism of potential induced degradation of solar cells and its prevention technique

Energy problems have to be solved in order to achieve "sustainable development of mankind". We focused on solar cells because of less limitation on the installation location to generate electric energy, and no ejection of exhausting gas, such as carbon dioxide, and noise during their operations. It is great pleasure if we can contribute the education and development of local society through the research activities, and express our achievements toward the world from Gifu, Japan.
