In coping with future technological innovations, education and research have been widely carried out in the fields of molecular design, molecular transformation, and molecular functionality, so that the chemical and physical natures of materials that exist in nature could be more clearly understood.  Major areas of studies involve molecular designs that utilize theoretical approaches and numerical simulations, as well as electronic materials and new functional materials that utilize liquid crystal. Research on new industrial materials comprising of organometallic compounds and other organic compounds, together with the development of highly functional polymer materials, biological production technology, as well as the environmental improvement technology are also being carried out vigorously. The aim is to develop researchers with excellent creativity and advanced technical expertise in the industrialization and synthesis of new materials.
