Research fields

Supramolecular chemistry + Biomimetics = Supramolecular biomimetics
My laboratory is conducting researches aimed at the construction of artificial biological functions based on supramolecular chemistry. From the viewpoint of "the organism is a molecular machine that is highly designed", we are trying to synthesize the artificial supramolecules that mimic the biological structure and function of natural supramolecular systems. Furthermore, we are considering the engineering applications of the artificial supramolecules.
Recent research topics:
1) Development of new anion receptors (calixpyrrole derivatives).
2) Development of sensors / probes that recognize the biological functional molecules (ferrocene derivatives / anthracene derivatives).
3) Construction of artificial photosynthetic antenna complexes by self-organization (porphyrin derivatives).
4) Development of the dye-sensitized solar cells mimicking for photosynthesis.
