Syntheses, structure and properties of novel metal-metal bonded complexes are our main interest. The order of metal-metal bonds varies with metal and its oxidation states and the largest one is five. We have studied synthesis, structure, and properties of the metal complexes with metal-metal bonds. Our recent topics are as follows.
1. Syntheses and electronic structures of novel hetero-metal dinuclear or trinuclear complexes with metal-metal bonds. The complexes with PtRh and IrRu have been synthesized.
2. Novel rhodium, ruthenium, and iridium dinuclear complexes with metal-metal bond and their assembled structures. Novel honeycomb and diamondoid structures of dirhodium complexes with halide ions have been reported.
3. Mixed valency in the dimer of Lantern-type dinuclear complexes connected by multiple hydrogen bonds. Half-lantern type dirhodium complexes with biimidazole ligands and carboxylate bridges have been synthesized and its mixed valency along the oxidation process was discussed.
