Ferroelectrics with spontaneous polarization has a high dielectric constant characteristics, piezoelectric, and pyroelectric. So ferroelectrics are applicable for various electronic device like sensors, actuators, ultrasonic transducers, FeRAM, etc. Among the various ferroelectrics, we have studied practical ferroelectric oxides, in particular, relaxor ferroelectrics. As research content,

- Creating new ferroelectric single crystals or ceramics,
- Measurement of basic physical properties, dielectric properties, piezoelectric properties, PE hysteresis curve, and domain observation,
- Measurement of the hydrostatic pressure of the above characteristics.

Until now, PZT solid solution or relaxor ferroelectric solid solution was been generally used as a piezoelectric material, but it has begun to be regulated because it contains lead. Therefore, new materials to replace these have been researched, but the material that exceeds the characteristics of the PZT is not found. Therefore, our laboratory is also working on the search for a new lead-free ferroelectric material.
