The urban landscape and its history are main subjects, seeking what essential matters to manage creative towns are, from not only surface landscape but its historical process to form present towns. The recent researches are made empirically from existing structures and historical materials, the topics are as followings:

  • Clarification of backgrounds of that local cities got to do urban planning
  • Clarification of the background and precise contents of developments of urban infrastructure (civil engineering history research)
  • Elucidation of the structure and necessity of forming a cultural landscape

As the practical efforts, we frequently go into provincial towns with students to discuss the way to solve the its problems: the confusion of the landscape and the decline of urban district has become a serious problem in the provincial towns in recent years. We believe that to consider an economic activity to sustain city and to consider a high-quality landscape formation are the same meaning ultimately.
