Research fields

Polymeric matter properties and their applications such as a functional interface material is our research field. In particular, since my intensive interest is the phenomenon in relation to polymer surface and/or interface, our subjects of research are mainly occupied by the recent work. All of the substances have the surface and countless interfaces, and we think the in-situ corresponding behavior is clue to the solution to reveal the scientific knowledge and its mechanism.
There is an adhesion as one of the originating phenomena. Even the adhesion is involved a complicated event, the common keyword is the interface. Since the adhesives must be liquefied, the interface in contact with solid as an adherend results in the "wetting". We have already investigated these wettabilities and from our findings, developing the novel functional material is one of the main themes in our laboratory. The followings are our recent topics:
1. Development of functional interface materials such as tacky adhesive (PSA) and compatibilizer via plant-based poly (lactic acid).
2. Analysis of the interfacial behavior for initial adhesion process of the PSA.
3. Development of the bio-mimic based smart-interface materials and their solution of mechanism.
