To achieve the carbon-neutral society, it is essential to effectively utilize carbon resources such as biomass and waste materials. However, biomass and waste materials have low energy densities, and it is difficult to replace conventional large-scale fossil fuel-fired power plants with just the building-up of standalone power plants using biomass and waste materials. Therefore, it is necessary to establish small-scale, distributed, multi energy co-production systems that combine different renewable energies in various ways adjusted to the specific boundary conditions of each region. We are working on the development of low environmental impact, high-efficiency energy conversion technologies, which are the constituent elements of such systems. One of our recent research focuses is the biomass gasification process that combines pure oxygen and exhaust gas recirculation. Specifically, the following items are being addressed:"

- Effect of CO2 concentration on woody biomass gasification
- Improvement of carbon conversions through oxygen-enriched gasification of woody biomass
- Power generation characteristics of solid oxide fuel cells using biomass gasified gas

       Combustion of woody biomass pellets
