Entrance Exams (Graduate Program)

It is advisable that you contact/consult the supervisor of the course of your interest before submitting the application form as you need to write a research proposal for Doctoral program. Please read more information on the research areas of each researcher in their respective departments and you can start contacting him/her through their emails.

The Doctoral Degree Program

A doctoral degree is awarded to those who successfully complete three years of required course work and research, pass the final comprehensive examination, and have their thesis accepted.

If you wish to enroll as a graduate student in the doctoral program, you must meet one of the following requirements:

1. You have obtained a master's degree in Japan.

2. You have been awarded a degree equivalent or superior to a master's degree by an overseas educational institution.

3. You have a degree equivalent to a master's degree earned via correspondence education offered by an overseas educational institution in Japan.

4. You have been recognized by the graduate school as being of academic ability equivalent or superior to those who have a master's degree.

5. You were assigned by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

A person wishing to be admitted into the doctoral program must take an entrance examination. The entrance examination for international students is given twice every year. First intake's entrance examination will normally be conducted in end of August while the second intake's takes place in December. Please obtain the application form from the graduate school. Detailed information on the application procedure and entrance examination is given on the form. According to the procedure described in the form, the applicant should submit the necessary forms to Graduate Section, Faculty of Engineering,Gifu University.

＊We will start online application from the entrance examination to be held in 2024.
Before applying, you will need to register on My Page. Please allow sufficient time for your application. We will send important information about the entrance examination to the e-mail address registered at the time of online application. Please prepare an e-mail address that you can check on a daily basis and that is not subject to change or deletion. Please make sure that the applicant enters the information on the online application site by himself/herself.

How to Requesting a Student Recruitment Guide

Student recruitment guides can be requested by sending a rectangular #2 self-addressed return envelope（ 33 cm long, 24 cm wide） with stamps for 250 yen affixed to it. On the front of the envelope, please write in red ink "Doctoral Program Student Recruitment Guide Request". Please write down your name, telephone number, and the department you want to apply for on some paper, and enclose it in the envelope.

You have to use the application form attached to the student recruitment guide which you have ordered by mail.
However, for those living abroad I will provide you a PDF data of the application form, so please order it through your preferred supervisor.
