I study biomass utilization as follows:

(1)Development of the production process of aviation fuel from biomass (Biomass to Liquid;BTL)
The vision of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for 2008 is to achieve carbon-neutral growth in the medium term and to develop zero-carbon emission technology within the next 50 years. Therefore, there is a need for the development of alternative aviation fuels. In the study, the development of the production process of aviation fuel from biomass, which is composed of biomass gasification, dry gas cleaning, and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of syn-gas (CO and H2), is performed.

(2)Study on exhaust gas treatment using sewage sludge char
The carbonization of sewage sludge is performed as efforts to address global warming. Then, fossil fuel and acid and alkali absorbing liquids are used for the drying of sludge and exhaust gas (SO2 and NH3) treatment, respectively. Thus, much CO2 is emitted from processes of biomass utilization. Therefore, in the study, the adsorption behaviors of SO2 and NH3 in the exhaust gas into sewage sludge char, produced from the carbonization of sludge dried by fermentation, are investigated using the lab-scale fixed-bed reactor in order to save energy in a sewage plant.
