From June 4 to July 11, 2024, seven faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering at the National University of Timor-Leste, one of our faculty's partner institutions, visited Gifu University to participate in a training program hosted by the Faculty of Engineering.
The delegation consisted of four faculty members from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, one from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and two from the Department of Informatics. Since 2002, Gifu University has collaborated with the National University of Timor-Leste under the framework of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), providing technical assistance, dispatching experts, and offering long-term training programs for faculty members. An academic exchange agreement was concluded between the two institutions in 2016.
The current visit was organized in conjunction with the launch of a new master's program at the National University of Timor-Leste. The visiting faculty took this opportunity to finalize lecture materials for graduate-level courses and engage in detailed discussions concerning future joint research initiatives.
On July 10, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the President of Gifu University. During the meeting, both parties reflected on past collaborations and discussed prospects for further cooperation. The President expressed his strong expectation for the continued advancement of this international partnership. Going forward, both institutions aim to deepen their collaboration through internationally funded research projects.
