My research is primarily focused on genetic algorithm (GA), an optimization method inspired by Darwin's evolutionary theory. In GA, candidate solutions are treated as individuals which have parameters to be optimized as genes, and these individuals explore the solution space through repeated recombination, mutation, and natural selection. Since no assumptions are required for functions used to evaluate individuals, GA can be applied to various fields. My research interests include the application of GA to the computer vision field. Specifically, I am working on solving problems such as template matching, rear-lamp tracking using images from an onboard camera, Braille block detection on first-person images, and so on. Furthermore, I would like to respond to the demand for optimization in manufacturing by using not only GA but other evolutionary computation methods.
